Corneal procedure (excimer laser technology)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The term “excimer” derives from the English “excited dimer” (excited molecule). This refers to the effect of cold lasers on cells. In medicine, lasers are used in a wide variety of fields. <\/p>\n\n

Excimer lasers have been used in eye surgery since the early 1980s. They are used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. This has the advantage of minimizing treatment time. <\/p>\n\n

Two different methods are used with excimer lasers:<\/p>\n\n

  1. LASIK <\/a>= Laser in situ keratomileusis (Standard\/ Femto- Intralase\/ ReLex Smile<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n
