What is ReLEx SMILE LASIK?<\/strong>
ReLEx\u00ae SMILE is the first laser eye surgery procedure performed using only a single laser: the VisuMax femtosecond laser. The procedure is painless and does not require the flap typical of LASIK. <\/p>\n\n

First, the corneal disc (lenticule) is prepared within the cornea using the VisuMax femtosecond laser. During this process, you will see a bright spot but feel very little. Immediately after the lenticule preparation, a small opening of 2 to 3 mm is made \u2013 also with the VisuMax. Through this opening, the surgeon detaches the lenticule and carefully removes it. The small incision is then checked again. Afterward, like most patients, you will be surprised at how quickly everything went and how little you felt. Due to the small size of the incision, no special precautions are necessary postoperatively; you can usually resume sports, wash your hair, or shower the following day. <\/p>\n\n
