I was immediately convinced and decided to undergo the surgery right away, driven by time, desire, and cost. I researched online and came across SwissLasik. I contacted the relevant person and was thoroughly informed. They took plenty of time to ensure that I was well-informed without any pressure. Within half a day, without even attending the information day, I had booked everything — and at really great conditions! The flight, hotel, pick-up, service, and surgery were all part of the premium package.
Soon enough, the time came: I flew to Istanbul with Swiss and was really impressed by the city. I was immediately picked up at the airport and taken to the hotel. There, they took care of my luggage and my room straight away. Everything ran smoothly, and I was constantly kept informed with no delays. On the first day, I had time to go on a sightseeing tour. On the second day, it was finally time: I went to the ACIBADEM hospital, which was incredibly large, and only people there gave me an impression of being well-off. Everything was so clean, the staff well-groomed, and the service optimal. It was massive, and I kept watching the people and patients coming in and out until I was picked up by a translator. His name was Tolga. He was friendly and very open, so I quickly got a sense of what was going on. He led me to the eye department, where I had another examination.
Then I met the doctor who would perform my surgery later that day. She was very competent, young, and good-looking, sitting in her office full of diplomas and certificates. I was briefly informed again about how everything would go, and from there on, I just had to wait. Everything went quickly after that. Suddenly, I was taken into the operating room, where I was given eye drops and then had to lie down on a table. The surgery was very quick; everything was done in about 10 minutes. To be honest, for me, it was a bit uncomfortable, and there was some discomfort because the cornea was open, and constant fluid was being poured into my eyes to cool them. But before I could think about it, everything was already over.
Afterward, I had a burning sensation in my eyes that caused pain, but I survived. 🙂 They put sunglasses on me and drove me back to the hotel. After taking a painkiller, the pain eased after about 2 hours, and by 4 hours, it was almost gone. I listened to music and then fell asleep.
The next morning, the incredible happened. I woke up, and suddenly, everything was different. I saw everything clearly, and it was just unbelievable how one could describe it. I had no pain or itching, everything was great. The only thing was that my vision wasn’t quite sharp yet. But that was normal, as it gets better day by day during the healing process. Today, two weeks after the surgery, I can see everything clearly and sharply. I can read texts that I previously could only read with glasses. It’s simply incredible. I would even pay five times as much if SwissLASIK didn’t exist, just to be able to live without glasses! The day after the surgery, I had a follow-up appointment with the doctor, and the result was 100%. I was absolutely thrilled. Afterward, I had time to see some more of Istanbul and prepare for my flight home. The people and the service were truly excellent. Regarding the surgery itself, I can say that the staff possesses the necessary social, methodological, and professional skills, as well as state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure that almost surpasses even Switzerland. The only slight issue was communication, which was a bit difficult in Turkey, as people don’t speak English or German very well, but we always managed somehow. As I sat on the plane, I thought about the time when I really suffered with glasses, whether playing sports, driving, sunbathing, etc. I quickly forgot the past and looked forward to a future without glasses, which I still have ahead of me at my prime age. My conclusion: Anyone who wants a life without glasses, has their whole life ahead of them, and the time for it, should definitely go for it! With that, I thank and bid farewell to the entire Swisslasik team!
