Erfahrungsbericht zu meiner Laserbehandlung mit Supracor in Istanbul – Bericht vom Mittwoch, 19. Dezember 2012
From 22nd to 25th October 2012, I stayed in Istanbul to undergo a laser treatment. The fact that I increasingly had to use reading glasses and the positive experience of a colleague motivated me to take this step. At the holiday fair in Zurich, as well as online, I noticed the offers from SwissLasik. After a preliminary examination in Zurich, I decided to fly to Istanbul for treatment. The trip organisation and scheduling were very professional and efficient. The SwissLasik pass was very helpful, firstly at check-in and secondly because I could already think about important aspects of the trip (hospital appointments, follow-up checks, places to see in Istanbul, etc.) in advance.
After a very pleasant flight, I arrived in Istanbul on Monday afternoon. The transfer to the Levent Hotel followed, which turned out to be a very clean and well-equipped hotel with the necessary comfort. The next day, I was picked up on time at the Levent Hotel and was already expected at the Acibadem Hospital by my German-speaking coordinator. Throughout the morning, various thorough examinations were carried out, always accompanied by my “interpreter.” After the examinations, I had a conversation with the operating doctor, who recommended the relatively new Supracor method (the eyes are lasered differently for short- and long-sightedness). I had already heard about this option beforehand, and when the doctor deemed my eyes suitable, I decided to go ahead with the procedure.
On the same afternoon (Tuesday), my eyes were lasered. I was surprised at how quickly the procedure went (about 7 minutes for both eyes) and that I felt no pain at all. After the surgery, I was given protective glasses and equipped with eye drops, and I was informed both verbally and in writing about their use. The transfer back to the hotel followed, where a few hours of rest/darkness were recommended. In the evening, I could already leave the hotel with sunglasses and stretch my legs a little.
On Wednesday morning, I was picked up after breakfast at the hotel. The follow-up check-up followed, and I felt good as I had slept well and noticed an improvement in my vision. At the Acibadem Eye Clinic, I was once again greeted by my coordinator, and a thorough follow-up examination was carried out, which showed no issues. In the afternoon, I was driven back to the hotel, and after a short rest, I took a stroll around the city, went shopping, and visited the Blue Sapphire skyscraper (the tallest building in Istanbul). It was amazing how quickly a noticeable improvement in my vision became apparent, and this without any pain.
On Thursday afternoon, I was picked up at the Levent Hotel and transferred to the airport for the return journey. What was remarkable to me was the fact that all transfers after my arrival at the hotel were very punctual, almost early, despite the heavy traffic in Istanbul. After a very efficient check-in, I boarded the flight home, and just like the outbound journey, the flight was very comfortable, with friendly flight attendants.
The conclusion, from my point of view, is very positive, and I can only recommend SwissLasik. The Supracor treatment worked very well for me, and the doctors and the entire hospital staff made a very good impression. The support from the interpreter at the hospital was seamless, and even during the treatment, he was present.
