Stem cell hair treatments
Stem cell hair therapy is a hair treatment designed to stimulate natural regeneration processes in hair roots and scalp.
Stress, general health and age affect the condition of the hair and its ability to regenerate.
To obtain stem cells to treat hair loss, we utilize two of the patient’s stem cell reservoirs. The first reservoir is the adipose tissue, from which fat stem cells are extracted, and the second reservoir is the hair follicles, from which hair follicle stem cells are extracted.
How are fat stem cells harvested and used to treat hair loss?
A small volume of subcutaneous fat tissue is extracted from the patient using a syringe. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia through a small micro-incision in the skin and is painless for the patient.
The harvested adipose tissue is then processed using a special method to create a cell emulsion containing fat stem cells, which is also known as “nano-fat”. This stem cell-containing nano-fat is then injected into the scalp affected by hair loss.
How do fat stem cells help against hair loss?
The stem cells derived from autologous adipose tissue are so-called mesenchymal stem cells, which consist of various cell types. In addition to fat precursor cells, the isolated stem cells include endothelial cells, fibroblasts, macrophages, and blood cells. This heterogeneous mixture of stem cells is called the “stromal vascular fraction/SVF,” which, due to its differentiation potential, belongs to the group of multipotent stem cells.
Fat stem cells produce certain growth factors which counteract hair loss through various regenerative mechanisms.
