My LASIK treatment in Antalya, Türkiye via Swisslasik – report from Thursday, August 2, 2012
About a year ago, I finally decided to get rid of my glasses. I found them bothersome and they hindered me in many situations. However, since laser eye surgery in Switzerland is very expensive and I couldn’t afford it, I started looking for an alternative and came across many clinics abroad that perform laser eye surgery. The Swisslasik Clinic website immediately made a very professional impression on me, especially since they regularly hold information sessions in Switzerland where you can get information without obligation and have all your questions answered by the surgeons who perform the procedures there. The fact that the pre- and post-operative examinations can be done in Switzerland also gave me a lot of confidence. The clear and concise price list on the website allowed me to see how much I would have to pay. I was able to contact Swisslasik easily and quickly via email. So I decided to have my eyes lasered at the Swisslasik Clinic in Antalya and combine it with my summer vacation in Side, Turkey. I was able to schedule the appointment via email, and everything was organized (pick-up and return to our hotel in Side, surgery, overnight stay, and pre- and post-operative examinations). All my questions were also answered. Communicating with Swisslasik was very easy and straightforward. Before my departure, I received the Swisslasik Passport, a very useful guide with all the important information about the surgery, all the important phone numbers, useful information about the country, and tips on places to visit. Two days before the surgery, the local interpreter called me to let me know what time I would be picked up and what the schedule would be. On the day of the surgery, I was picked up promptly by the driver and taken to the Swisslasik clinic, where I received a warm welcome from the interpreter. She explained the procedure to me and was always available to translate everything. Then the pre-operative examinations began, and everything was explained very clearly. After the pre-operative examinations were completed around noon, I went to lunch with the five other patients (from Germany). I had surgery around 3:00 PM. Since I was well-prepared for the operation, I knew exactly what to expect. The surgery itself took about 20 minutes for both eyes. I didn’t experience any pain during the operation, and even afterward, I only felt a slight pressure in my head. Afterward, I slept for a few hours. I was very surprised that, apart from a slight pressure in my head, I had no pain whatsoever, and I was even able to read my first text message on my phone without glasses that same evening 🙂 The next morning, I had a follow-up appointment, and everything was fine. I was given the eye drops I had to use several times a day, along with an information sheet explaining how and when to use them and what to be aware of in the weeks following the surgery. The driver took me back to my hotel. For the first two days, I wore sunglasses because my eyes were still a bit sensitive to light. I was, and still am, overjoyed to be able to live without corrective lenses. I feel truly liberated; I’m finally rid of my bothersome glasses. I always felt very well cared for at the Swisslasik Clinic in Antalya and can highly recommend it. Surgery on July 20, 2012 in Antalya. Urs Köpfli from Wohlen, Aargau (Switzerland)
