My laser treatment in Istanbul in November 2010 – Report from Sunday, December 5, 2010
For some time, I had been toying with the idea of having laser eye surgery. The high price in Switzerland, however, deterred me. One day, I came across the Swisslasik website, and it seemed reputable and interesting. After some consideration, I decided to contact Mr. Karaagacli. I always received a response to my questions, which I was relieved and pleased about. So, I finally decided on Swisslasik. Before my departure, Mr. Karaagacli sent me the Swisslasik passport, which contained a lot of information and described the procedure for the laser treatment. It also included general useful information. This booklet became my constant companion in Istanbul. Upon arrival in Istanbul, my colleague and I were picked up at the airport by the German-speaking guide and driven to our hotel. I thought this service was excellent. We arranged a time for him to pick me up at the hotel and accompany me to the clinic. He also informed me that my appointment had to be postponed by one day because the doctor was unavailable due to illness. This didn’t bother me, as I was staying in Istanbul for a week. On the day of the preliminary examination, I was picked up from the hotel by my coordinator as arranged. We walked, as it was only about a 5-minute walk. Upon arrival, we had to put on shoe covers for hygiene reasons. At the clinic, I was accompanied by another German-speaking coordinator. During the preliminary checks, he explained what would be examined on my eyes and what I should do about them. Everything went quite quickly. After about 20-30 minutes, I was told that laser treatment was possible for me. I was pleased about this. The treatment was scheduled for the same day. After about an hour’s lunch break, I went back to the clinic with my colleague. That day, I and two other patients, all from Switzerland, were treated. We were told that the laser surgery would have to be performed at another clinic because, in exceptional circumstances, there was insufficient power available at the clinic, or rather, due to technical reasons. So, we were driven about 30 minutes away to the other clinic. This clinic also made a clean and, above all, luxurious impression. We spent the waiting time outside the operating room. We were offered a sedative to calm us down. At that point, I just wanted the surgery to be over with, as my anxiety was rising to the point where the waiting was almost unbearable. Thanks to the sedative, my anxiety decreased significantly, and I was completely relaxed. During the surgery, the German-speaking attendant translated the doctor’s instructions for me. It was a quick procedure, and all I had to do was focus my gaze on the green dot. The surgery itself was completely painless; there was only one slightly painful step on the eye (I think it was where the eye was attached or something like that). After the surgery, the doctor examined my eyes again and confirmed that everything was fine. Once I arrived at the hotel, I lay down and slept for a few hours. Luckily, I hadn’t experienced any pain. After waking up, I noticed that my vision had improved considerably, and I could suddenly read the digital time. The next day, I went back to the clinic for a follow-up examination. The doctor checked my eyes again, and then I was free to go sightseeing in the city, etc. I would do it exactly the same way again and highly recommend it. Best regards, Dzevi Sopi
