My breast reduction and liposuction in Istanbul – report from Monday, July 8, 2013

I had wanted to have breast reduction surgery for quite some time. However, since my health insurance wouldn’t cover it, I had to wait until I had saved up the money. Then I heard about SwissLasik from a colleague and looked into the cosmetic surgery options in Istanbul. They gave me excellent advice, and I also attended their information evening in Zurich. The decision to have the surgery in Istanbul was purely financial. I had contact with Mr. Karaagacli a few times beforehand. He always responded quickly and competently. He was also always available to answer questions or address any concerns. He handled all the travel arrangements, and everything went perfectly. We even put together a SwissLasik passport with the times of the check-ups, etc., which was very helpful. We were also picked up every time we arrived in Istanbul, which worked out flawlessly. When we arrived in Istanbul, we had to change hotels because of the unrest around Taksim Square, where our original hotel was located. The other hotel wasn’t in the city center, but it was also in a nice location. Since my companion had to spend a few days alone while I had surgery, we requested a hotel with a pool, which we were able to book. The initial consultation with the doctor was conducted in English, but an interpreter was available at any time. The hospital has several German-speaking staff members. The doctor explained everything to me in detail, and I also had a consultation with the anesthesiologist. The operation began the following afternoon and lasted eight hours. In the evening, I was taken to my room, which was a private room. I was in a lot of pain the first night but was visited regularly by the staff. At times, I felt misunderstood and somewhat alone. Being in so much pain in a foreign country wasn’t easy, and I had somewhat underestimated it. I ended up having to stay another night. After the operation, I felt very fragile and a bit emotionally drained. I hadn’t prepared myself for such a long surgery. On the third day, I went to the hotel. According to the doctor, that was best for me, as I had my companion nearby. I had to go back to the hospital twice for follow-up appointments. The transfers always went smoothly. Such an operation, followed by time spent in a hotel, wasn’t easy for me. With that much pain, I would have preferred to be in my own country. But it was manageable because my companion took very good care of me. Today, I’m very happy with the result. The doctor did an excellent job. I can recommend this type of surgery. The preliminary examinations should definitely be done. After all, it’s still an operation, and you never know exactly what might happen. The doctors are definitely of the same standard as in Switzerland. Clara B.
