Experience report on LASIK eye surgery in Istanbul, 2 December 2011 – Report from Friday, 2 December 2011

My name is Hasan Havayitli and I am 25 years old. I had my LASIK operation on 21 November 2011. I have actually always had to wear glasses. The problem was that I never liked wearing them. I could not wear contact lenses because my eyes did not tolerate them. Glasses became more and more annoying, and I dreamed of a life without being dependent on them. Do you know the feeling of being attached to something you do not like wearing?
While researching online, I realised that this operation is too expensive in Switzerland, and that is how I came across Swisslasik. After several very friendly and professional phone calls with Mr Karaagacli, I decided to have my eyes operated on by Swisslasik in Istanbul. Swisslasik is a very straightforward provider, where a single phone call is enough for information, bookings and rebookings alike.
Of course, I also had my concerns about whether Istanbul really was the right place for such a vital procedure. However, I can guarantee with 100 per cent satisfaction that I would do it again in Istanbul, if only because of the excellent care both in Switzerland through Swisslasik and in Istanbul through the clinic staff. I did not have to worry about how I would be picked up from the airport, the hotel or the clinic. I arrived at Istanbul Airport and was greeted directly by a clinic chauffeur. On the way to the hotel, I was informed about how the transport between the hotel and the clinic would take place the next day.
The following day, I was picked up and taken to the clinic. As soon as I arrived, I always had a supervisor around me whom I could speak to at any time. The clinic staff were very friendly and competent. After a harmless preliminary examination, I finally received the relieving news that I could undergo the operation. The doctor informed me of the exact time of the surgery and recommended that I get some fresh air on the restaurant terrace. Even during this waiting time, I always had someone with me who helped to ease my nervousness.
When it was time for the operation, I made the mistake of not asking for a calming tablet and suddenly became very nervous. The operation itself was painless. I am sure that if I had not become nervous, the procedure would perhaps have taken no more than ten minutes. After the operation, I experienced some burning in my eyes, but after four hours the pain had disappeared and I finally had my life without glasses ahead of me. I cannot remember the last time I could see so well without glasses as I do now. The mild pain I experienced for four hours was worth it, and I am now more confident than I was with glasses.
I therefore recommend the operation to anyone who is dependent on glasses or contact lenses. The hotel where I stayed was very clean and well maintained. The rooms were beautifully furnished, and you felt very comfortable and safe there. The hotel staff were very friendly and everything was done to my complete satisfaction. There was a very wide selection at breakfast, and the City Park Hotel is also highly recommended for dinner. I would give this hotel 5 out of 5 points, and I will choose the City Park Hotel again for my next holiday in Istanbul.
During this week in Istanbul, I met many kind, helpful and hospitable people. I was also able to enjoy what is, for me, the most beautiful city in the world without glasses. Istanbul is a city where you can see everything, from ultra-modern architecture to ancient stone-built culture. If you decide to visit Istanbul, you absolutely must take a boat tour on the Bosphorus. It is the best example of the combination of old and modern.
I am glad that I came across Swisslasik and I recommend Swisslasik with the highest level of satisfaction, also giving Swisslasik 5 out of 5 points.
