I-LASIK laser eye surgery experience report – Report from Friday, April 13, 2018

In March 2018, I travelled with my family and friends to Istanbul for a 5-day holiday and to have eye surgery in Turkey.

How did I find out about this hospital? I’ve seen it on TV a couple of times, and I’ve also heard about it from acquaintances.

I booked the hotel myself; it was in a very lively area of ​​the city and not far from the hospital. The metro took me 20 minutes, which was great and very cheap.

On Friday, March 30th, I was greeted at the hospital by an interpreter who was very helpful at all times. Afterwards, I had to undergo a marathon of tests all morning, which ultimately confirmed that my eyes are suitable for LASIK surgery. Everyone at the hospital was very helpful and friendly.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the time had come; I had the operation and immediately afterwards a follow-up appointment. Lying on the operating table was a strange feeling, but since it only lasted about 15 minutes, it was bearable.

After the eye surgery, I received two different types of eye drops for allergies or other infections, which I had to use for five days. After five days, I was given artificial eye drops that I have to use for approximately three to six months. I also received special sunglasses that I had to wear that day, both outdoors and while sleeping. After the first day, it was simply important to wear the sunglasses at all times.

Immediately after the surgery and the check-up, I went back to the hotel to have some peace and quiet.

My eyes were almost impossible to open at that point. They were watering and very sensitive to light for the first four hours. After four hours, however, this subsided, and indeed, I could see significantly better than before. I also had a pain-free night.

The next day, I had a check-up appointment with Prof. Dr. Banu Coşar in the morning, and so everything went well and I didn’t have to come back.

Why I didn’t have the treatment in Switzerland, or rather, why I went to Turkey: The costs are significantly lower, and the result is the same. Admittedly, the treatment is much less personal, but the expertise is immense.

The hospital specializes exclusively in these types of operations and boasts a high level of expertise. The treatment is first-class, and you feel very comfortable there. The atmosphere is great. All in all, I can highly recommend it for this price and quality.

Overall, I am thrilled with the process and results of my treatments. The feeling of seeing so clearly without glasses is still indescribable. I experienced no side effects such as eye irritation, night blindness, etc.

Since undergoing the treatment, I have already recommended SWISSLASIK and the Acibadem Hospital to many friends, acquaintances and colleagues, and I will continue to do so.

I was able to enjoy my last few days of vacation and visit the beautiful city, which I would highly recommend.
