My experience with laser treatment in Istanbul
I’ve worn glasses since I was eight years old. Luckily, contact lenses became available eventually, as I felt uncomfortable wearing glasses, especially during puberty. Eventually, I got used to it and it was okay. Nevertheless, I started to worry about having to wear glasses and contact lenses for the rest of my life and how annoying it can be for small everyday activities, like wearing sunglasses or playing sports. The cost isn’t insignificant either, so I considered that laser eye surgery could save me a considerable amount of money, even if it only lasts until I develop presbyopia. Of course, the feeling of being free from glasses for a few years and feeling more attractive is also worth it.
Around January 2015, my desire grew stronger and stronger, and I quickly started researching online. I soon came across the Swisslasik website and saved it, as I needed to save up first. About six months later, when I had finally saved some money and my glasses and contact lenses were bothering me even more, I was determined to have the procedure. Of course, I hadn’t forgotten the Swisslasik homepage, as it had impressed me from the very first moment. Naturally, I was very cautious at first because the internet offers so many options, and I wanted to do my research before making a final decision. So, I sent an email, and everything started very quickly. I always received prompt and competent replies and could also call if anything was unclear. I really appreciated that. A preliminary examination appointment at the medical center was also arranged for me quite quickly, which thankfully went well. When I decided to fly to Turkey, they accommodated my wishes, and I received all the important information and documents by mail. I could hardly wait.
When I arrived in Istanbul with a friend, a man with my name was already waiting for us. He drove us to the hotel and told us when I would be picked up the next day. The following day, we set off right on time with other people who also had treatments scheduled. Upon arriving at the clinic, a man who spoke German was already there and explained everything to us, somehow calming our nerves. There was another preliminary examination at the clinic, just to be safe, and we had to read and sign the risk assessment. The treatment began that afternoon. Naturally, I wanted to go first so I could get it over with.
The procedure took about 10 to 15 minutes and was painless. The only sensation is pressure on the eye before the laser treatment. Since the eye is open the entire time, I was worried it would burn and be uncomfortable. However, the eye is moisturized so that it doesn’t feel dry or burn. Afterwards, you’re given protective goggles and have to keep your eyes closed. Once everyone has had their turn, the doctor briefly checks your eyes again before you’re taken back to the hotel.
The more unpleasant part really starts here. For the first four hours, you’re not allowed to open your eyes and you have to put eye drops in every hour. I was glad my friend helped me with that, as I barely wanted to open my eyes. My eyes burned, watered, and felt like there was a hair in them. Luckily, it got better hour by hour, and after four hours, you hardly noticed anything anymore. When I checked my phone again after that time to let my friend know, I could hardly believe that I could already read everything perfectly. It felt like new eyes. They were a little red at first, but that’s completely normal. Later that evening, I was able to go out to eat, watch TV, and read as usual. Although it was advised against, to avoid straining your eyes, firstly, I simply couldn’t resist because it felt so great, and secondly, I didn’t find it tiring at all.
The next day I went back to the clinic briefly for a follow-up appointment, and then I was finally able to fully enjoy Istanbul. Since I had always wanted to go to Turkey, and especially to Istanbul, it was the perfect combination for me. The city fascinated me, and the people were cheerful and exuberant. You could say it was the best experience I’ve ever had. I would do it all exactly the same way again and recommend it to everyone.
Naturally, I had a great deal of respect for the eye surgery, but Swisslasik gave me the feeling that I could trust them. Everything was organized down to the smallest detail and carried out professionally. Because of my personal experience, many friends who also wear glasses have contacted me, and it looks like I’ll be accompanying someone this time, which I’m very happy to do.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Swisslasik team and I am truly delighted for your success. With this level of service and value for money, you more than deserve it. Here’s to a life free from glasses!
Eure Sara
