HOW DID MY LASIK SURGERY IN ISTANBUL GO? – Report from Friday, January 8, 2016

For about four years I’ve been interested in corrective eye surgery. Several people I know have already traveled to Turkey for it. The results were very good for everyone.

These harrowing stories deterred me, as these individuals felt incredibly helpless and dependent on strangers. Therefore, I contacted SwissLasik to inquire about their transportation arrangements. Since it was exceptionally well-organized, I decided at very short notice to have eye surgery, and a week later, it was underway in the city. My eyes were examined beforehand in Switzerland, and there were no obstacles to the operation. As I had little time to prepare for the trip, I was extremely grateful for the SwissLasik Passport. It provided me with all the necessary information, including details about the hotel, examinations, surgery, and transportation, conveniently at hand.

As a solo traveler, I was very grateful for the friendly pick-up service, the helpful hotel staff, and the support staff at the clinic. As a nurse myself, I was surprised by the services provided at the clinic. For the next three days, I had the same support person with me. Mr. Tolga Aktas even accompanied me to the operating room to offer reassurance. I certainly wouldn’t have experienced this level of continuity in Switzerland.

The first 4-5 hours after the surgery were unpleasant (intense burning and watering of the eyes). But even then, the hotel staff offered their help and, if necessary, would have administered the eye drops if I was unable to do it myself. After the first follow-up appointment the next day, I explored Istanbul and was out and about all day until the evening.

The improved vision was nothing short of a small miracle, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this surgery. I even saw better than I had expected before the operation. The following weeks were a truly wonderful experience, and I felt that glasses or contact lenses could never have provided this level of visual acuity. Now, all I need are the eye drops to keep my eyes moist and healthy.

At the hotel and the clinic, I met other patients who were traveling to Turkey for SwissLasik. We exchanged information, chatted in the hotel in the evenings, and some friendships even developed that I wouldn’t want to miss.

We motivated each other during times of uncertainty and experienced mutual support and warmth. Therefore, I am very grateful for my restored eyesight, the experiences of this trip, the friendships, conversations, and the pleasant climate in Turkey. Many thanks to SwissLasik!
