Eye Laser Istanbul: User Report – Report from Wednesday, January 7, 2009
I’ve been thinking about laser eye surgery for quite some time now.
Since I do a lot of sports and am also often on the go, wearing glasses was always somewhat unpleasant for me.
I heard about Swisslasik from friends. They had their eyes lasered a year ago.
I spent a considerable amount of time researching the whole thing. I read through some of the Swisslasik website and then went to a clinic in Binningen for a preliminary consultation.
At first I was a little unsure whether I really wanted to have the operation abroad, but the service from Swisslasik totally convinced me.
I had several email exchanges with Swisslasik, and all my questions were answered very quickly and thoroughly; everything was truly perfect. I was able to choose the date myself, and because time was short, everything had to happen quickly. Swisslasik provided excellent service; I received my Swisslasik pass by express mail in plenty of time, and I was able to fly to Istanbul just a few days later.
Everything was superbly organized; I was picked up at the airport, taken to the hotel, and everything was explained to me in great detail from A to Z, even in German!
The next day I went to the clinic. The preliminary examination was done in the morning. The whole team was incredibly friendly, the clinic was very clean, and they explained the procedure to me in detail! The service was truly excellent; I was offered drinks, received superb care, and the team was always available if I had any questions.
What I found really good was that we met the patients from the previous day; we could exchange thoughts and questions, which was really great and very helpful!
After a light lunch, we went back to the clinic in the afternoon for the operation. We were all very nervous, of course, and relieved when it was over.
The fear quickly disappeared, however, as the team reassured us and took good care of us!
What I absolutely must mention is the massage chair before the operation. While you have to wait a while before going under the knife, you’re allowed to sit in a massage chair. That was fantastic.
It kneaded my entire back and completely relaxed me; I’d had a sore back for several days, and that was no longer the case afterwards. And I was totally relaxed during the operation.
The operation only took a short time. Afterwards, I was able to lie down. Everyone was incredibly kind when I complained about the pain; they brought me a blanket so I wouldn’t get cold and a painkiller. After a while, I felt better. Together with another patient, I went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Tired from the medication and the operation, I slept very well.
The next day the pain was gone and I saw clearly – what a joy!
The next day I flew back to Switzerland. Burim picked me up from the hotel early in the morning and took me to the airport. The flight went very well; I took my drops every hour and had absolutely no problems.
Unfortunately, the following days were not entirely pleasant; I had to go back to work, and working on the computer was very tiring for my eyes, and I always had pain in the evenings.
The follow-up appointment in Zurich went very well, and now it’s been almost 4 weeks since the operation and I feel better every day!
I would definitely choose to have the surgery in Turkey again; I found the service much better than what I experienced during the pre-operative consultation in Switzerland, where it felt like a complete mass processing operation and my questions were ignored. Swisslasik, on the other hand, took their time, as did the team in Istanbul!
The surgeon also made a very professional impression!
I really can’t find anything to complain about, it was a truly excellent service.
For anyone still afraid of having surgery in Turkey, why so skeptical? Istanbul is a city bigger than the whole of Switzerland, why shouldn’t they be competent?
Ich möchte mich nochmals ganz herzlich bei allen bedanken, beim Swisslasik Team und auch beim Team in Istanbul, gute Arbeit !! J
