A life without glasses has always been my dream! – Report from Thursday, May 21, 2009
A life without glasses has always been my dream!
About six months ago, some relatives of mine were on vacation in Turkey. They quickly noticed the abundance of opticians there. They inquired further and learned that Turkey is a major player in the optical industry. Initially, I found it hard to believe that having eye surgery abroad was a good idea. Nevertheless, I researched laser eye surgery online and quickly came across Swisslasik. Their website made a good impression. In the forum, I read many patient testimonials, all of whom were very satisfied with the procedure. So, I registered with Swisslasik for a preliminary examination in Zurich. The ophthalmologist said that surgery would be a good option for me. I therefore decided to have my eyes lasered at the EYE-STAR clinic in Istanbul. Mr. Karaagacli organized the entire trip perfectly. Everything went smoothly. Exactly one week before the surgery, I received my Swisslasik passport, which detailed the entire procedure. On April 17, 2009, my journey to Istanbul began. I flew to Istanbul in the morning with Swiss. My driver, Fred Özatakan, was already waiting at the airport with a large sign that read EYE-STAR. He is very friendly and even speaks Swiss German. Fred first drove me to the Hotel Taksim Gönen, which I can highly recommend, and helped me check in. Afterward, we walked to the clinic. We were there in five minutes. At the clinic, the staff gave me a very friendly welcome. The preliminary examination took about an hour. The doctor in charge told me the same thing as the doctor in Zurich: that surgery would be no problem for me. Before the operation, I was able to take a short break at the hotel to get something to eat. Somehow, though, I wasn’t hungry because I was quite nervous. When I returned to the clinic, my assistant prepared me well for the upcoming surgery. She gave me a sedative. During the preparation, I was massaged in a massage chair. My eyes were disinfected first. A few minutes later, it began! The only thing I had to do during the procedure was watch the green dot above my face. It was very uncomfortable, but I never felt any pain. The doctor was always very friendly. The procedure only took seven minutes. Afterward, the doctor examined my eyes. He was very pleased. Although my vision was a little blurry, I was able to walk back to the hotel on my own. I was pleasantly surprised because I could already read a lot of things that I wouldn’t have been able to do before without glasses. The next day, the doctor examined my eyes again. Everything was fine. In the afternoon, I explored the city. Every two hours I had to use three different eye drops. During the following week, this was reduced to every four hours. On April 19, 2009, my driver picked me up on time and took me to the airport. During the flight home with Swiss, I had to use drops every half hour because the air in the airplane is quite dry. I’ve already been to Zurich twice for follow-up appointments. The doctor is very pleased with the result, and so am I, of course. I can recommend this surgery in Istanbul to everyone. You won’t regret it.
I would like to thank you again, Mr. Karaagacli, for the excellent consultation and organization!
