Experience report LASIK ISTANBUL /Türkiye – Report from Monday, June 25, 2007
Hello,
I AM A NEW PERSON. I returned from Istanbul yesterday, Saturday 23 June 2007, and I have to say it is an absolutely new feeling of life. After around 17 years of wearing glasses or contact lenses, I had had enough and decided to go for laser eye surgery. After a long period of searching and gathering information, I came across SWISSLASIK.CH. And I have to say, it was the best decision of my life. From the very first contact through to the operation and finally returning home, everything was organised so perfectly. I really have to say, hats off. The support was so excellent that I never felt alone at any point.
Mr Karaagacli-Leoni organised everything so wonderfully from Switzerland that everything ran smoothly: the preliminary examination in Zurich, the flight to Istanbul, the hotel reservation, the support from the team in Istanbul, the operation, the aftercare and finally the return flight. Thanks to the German-speaking support in Istanbul, there were never any problems.
On the day of the operation, we were picked up from the hotel at 12.30 by Mr Elik and taken to the clinic, which was only a few metres from the hotel. One after another, we were called in for the preliminary examination. The long waiting time was sweetened with plenty of tea, coffee and other little treats. We were also able to watch television or surf the internet on a laptop provided by EYEStar. After the preliminary examination, we had around one hour to go and get something to eat, which would no longer have been possible for many afterwards.
Later, we were all taken to the waiting lounge, which was very comfortable, where we waited for our operations. After a short while, I was called in. I went into the anteroom, where I was able to sit down in an excellent massage chair. A fantastic piece of equipment. There, my eyes were cleaned and disinfected. Shortly afterwards, I was on the operating table. And I have to say, I never imagined it would all happen so quickly. I did not feel any pain at all. It felt more like pressure on the eye. The only unpleasant part for me was the fitting of the eye speculum to keep the eyes open and prevent blinking. But even that was not too bad. The actual laser time only lasted a few seconds and then it was all over. The same procedure was then carried out on the other eye. After around fifteen minutes, everything was done. After a short time in a recovery room, I was brought back to the others who were waiting for me. There, we were monitored for a while to see how everything developed. We were given eye drops and more tea. And here too, I have to say, the care was first class.
Apart from watery eyes and a slight burning sensation, I did not feel anything. After a brief check by the doctor, we then had to go back to the hotel room to rest or sleep.
That was the only negative part for me. I developed quite severe headaches, but they were quickly relieved by the effective painkillers provided by the clinic. After that, I was finally able to sleep.
The next morning, everything was over. I got up and I could see. Wow. What a feeling. I was happy and could hardly believe it. After a brief follow-up examination at the clinic, we were all sent off into a new life without glasses and contact lenses.
I spent the rest of the time sightseeing and shopping in Istanbul until the next morning, when I was picked up by Mr Elik and taken to the airport.
Now a few words about my hotel.
I stayed at the Crystal Hotel. Overall, I was satisfied. Only the breakfast was absolutely not to my taste. But I think, given all the other successes, that is something you can put up with. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the service was also good.
All in all, I am glad that I took this step, and I would do it again.
Thank you, dear Mr Karaagacli-Leoni,
Thank you to the EYEStar team, especially Arif and Fred, for the excellent care and support. And many thanks for the wonderful time in Istanbul.
