My experience report about my surgery – Report from Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Since I was nine years old, I had to wear glasses, and at the age of fifteen I started wearing contact lenses, but that was impractical and cumbersome. I considered having my eyes operated on, but I was too young and my eyesight was not stable, so I had to wait a little.

I wanted to have the operation carried out in Switzerland and was looking for information online about what options were available in Switzerland or France. In the process, I came across swisslasik.ch and was immediately interested.

I asked for more information and four days later received the brochure. After that, I wanted to know whether I would be suitable for the procedure. I then arranged an appointment for a preliminary examination, and everything went well.

Three weeks later, I flew to Istanbul full of excitement, also because I wanted to visit this beautiful city.

The pick-up service was punctual and I was taken to the hotel, where my mother was waiting for me (she had arrived five hours before me). The room was very small, but what mattered most to me was that the hotel was directly opposite the clinic, which was very convenient after the operation.

The following day, we went on an old town tour with Birol (a member of the clinic staff) and another patient who had undergone surgery the day before.

I asked him all my questions about the operation and was surprised at how fit he already was, which reassured me.

The next day at 10 a.m. I had the preliminary examination, and at 12 noon the operation took place.

Before the operation, they gave me a calming tablet and then I sat down in a massage chair (amazing!!!!!!!!), where they disinfected my eyes. Shortly afterwards, I went into the operating room and lay down on a bed (that was when I felt a bit scared 🙂 ). They opened my eyes and fixed them in place with a device so that I would not involuntarily close them during the laser treatment. After that, I was able to switch off and think of something pleasant to calm my nerves, even though I had to concentrate on the green light.

The operation was very quick and I did not feel any pain at all. After a brief check by the doctor, I had to return to the hotel to let my eyes recover.

I slept deeply for four hours and then opened my eyes – and what a FEELING! I was very happy because I could already see extremely well, but I did not want to strain my eyes.

The next day I had a brief follow-up examination and everything was tip-top!

I was able to enjoy Istanbul for another four days, although it was a pity that the weather was not so good.

Four days ago, I had the first follow-up examination in Zurich. It was found that my right eye has a curvature, which slightly reduces visual acuity.

I am very satisfied with the result of the operation and enjoy life much more without visual aids.
