My laser eye surgery in Istanbul – report from Monday, October 29, 2007

First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Eyestar team. I would also like to thank Mr. Karaagacli very much for all the organization; without him, none of this would have been possible.

The planning was done from Zurich. First, I had to go to the ophthalmologist for a preliminary examination to determine if my eyes were suitable for laser surgery. (I had diopters of -8.0 and -9.5.)

I didn’t have to contribute to the organization, as Mr. Karaagacli arranged everything for me (hotel, flight, and appointments at the clinic).

When my daughter and I landed in Istanbul, we were warmly greeted by Birol, who speaks very good German. He then took us to our hotel, which is 20 kilometers from the airport.

The walk from the hotel to the clinic takes approximately 1 minute.

The next day, Fred, who speaks fluent Swiss German, picked us up from the hotel. He showed us the clinic, where we received a very warm welcome. The atmosphere at the clinic was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly. I immediately felt I was in safe hands at Eyestar.

The preliminary examination took a while, but it went smoothly, and the surgeon scheduled the surgery for 2:00 PM.

When the time finally came, I wasn’t nervous at all. Quite the opposite, I was actually really looking forward to the operation. Fred, who was always with me, made me feel safe.

During the pre-operative preparation, the surgeon explained in English what would happen, and Fred translated everything he said. I didn’t feel a thing during the operation, and I had no pain afterward either. It’s unbelievable, but true!

After the operation, the surgeon examined my eyes and checked my visual acuity. I could hardly believe it; I could see everything without glasses or contact lenses.

The next day we had to go back to the clinic for a follow-up examination. Everything was perfect; my vision was 100%.

After the follow-up examination, Birol was waiting for us at the clinic. He showed us the city and some of the sights and accompanied us to the bazaar. A truly excellent service!

The next day, Birol picked us up at the hotel and took us to the airport in the early morning. We landed back in Zurich on time, just as we had left Istanbul. But there was one difference: I had two new eyes.

I’ve already recommended you a lot to my friends and acquaintances, because you simply can’t get better service or more expertise! And all at that price! From the very first email until today, I’ve felt I received excellent advice from you; everything was perfectly organized, and I was always confident that I was in the best professional hands.
