Meine Erfahrung für Augenlaser OP in der Türkei- Istanbul
My experience / recommendation – laser eye surgery in Istanbul
I’ve worn glasses since the third grade. As an adult, I switched to contact lenses. I never really got used to glasses, and I always had problems with contact lenses too (dry eyes, headaches from wearing them for too long, and foreign particles constantly getting stuck in the lenses, which impaired my vision). So, for a long time, I considered laser eye surgery.
When I finally mustered the courage, I decided to undergo the treatment and made an appointment for the preliminary examination in Zug with Mr. Kara at SwissLasik. After the examinations, it was confirmed that my eyes were well-suited for such an operation.
After some time to think it over, I definitely signed up for the treatment.
SwissLasik then made me a fantastic offer and organized the flight, transport service and hotel.
I flew to Istanbul on February 20th, accompanied by a friend who was also having treatment there at the same time. It wasn’t the first time either of us had traveled to Istanbul, so we were all the more excited about our stay in the beautiful and exciting city.
We had a very pleasant flight and were picked up at the airport by our chauffeur as arranged. Afterwards, we went straight to the hotel that MedicalTravel had selected and booked for us.
Since my operation was only on Saturday, February 26th, I was able to enjoy Istanbul a little bit more.
On Saturday morning, I was picked up by the chauffeur right on time and taken to the Birincigöz Eye Clinic. The interpreter was already waiting for me there. She greeted me very warmly and showed me to my room first. Afterwards, a few preliminary examinations were carried out. I then met my doctor, Associate Professor Faik Orucoglu. He was very friendly and professional and answered all my questions thoroughly and clearly.
Then the time had come…
The interpreter came to get me from my room and stayed with me the entire time, including during the surgery. Before the operation, she explained everything to me in detail: how the procedure would work, what it would feel like, and approximately how long it would take.
I was given a sedative before the surgery because you’re not under general anesthesia during the operation; you experience the whole thing completely clearly. Then I was called into the operating room, and that’s when it began.
The entire operation went very quickly and without any complications. For me, though, the whole thing was quite impressive, almost a little frightening, to experience the entire procedure on my eyes. I can’t confirm the claim that the operation is painless, because I felt the “slight pressure” that had been described to me beforehand as very unpleasant and somewhat painful. The laser was also quite unsettling and uncomfortable, and suddenly there was a smell of corn, which is completely normal, however. That was the least of my worries. Immediately after the surgery, I was taken back to my room. The doctor had already informed me beforehand that it was possible my eyes would water a little for the first two hours; I would feel a slight stinging and burning sensation.
As soon as I got to my room, the pain started. Mild pain? Not a chance! I’ve never experienced such excruciating eye pain. My eyes watered constantly, and the burning and stinging lasted for a good four hours! Those were probably the longest four hours of my life. I just lay on the bed, unable to watch TV or talk on the phone, as that was strictly forbidden. Of course, I understood that watching TV after eye surgery wasn’t a good idea. The nurse came every hour and gave me pain drops, as well as three other drops (antibiotic, cortisone, and artificial tears). However, I could barely stand the pain and called the nurse every half hour! She tried very hard to help me and alleviate my pain. After a few hours, the pain subsided, and eventually, I was finally able to fall asleep.
The next day I woke up pain-free and noticed my eyesight improving steadily throughout the day. It was an incredible feeling, and I quickly forgot the pain from the previous day. A check-up was then performed, and no complications were found. Completely relieved and happy, I was able to fly home that same day.
I would like to sincerely thank MedicalTravel-SwissLasik, as well as the doctor, driver, and hotel. I am extremely satisfied with the result and the service; I can highly recommend them. If you’re thinking about having the procedure done, go for it! Despite the pain, I have never regretted this decision.
