They’re doing a great job there! – Report from Monday, April 25, 2016

My son initially wanted to have his eyes lasered in Turkey and persuaded me to come along with him, using convincing arguments. Without doing any research beforehand, I trusted my son, who also told me that his friends had had laser eye surgery and all successfully.

My son contacted a travel agency that organized the trip. Since we had public holidays in Switzerland at that time, it was ideal to take the time for those days plus the weekend. I found the agency to be very organized. We flew to Turkey on Thursday, and upon arrival, a team was waiting for us to take care of us. We then just had to wait for the pick-up service, which was also organized by the travel agency. The bus ride was very convenient and took us to the hospital. Afterwards, the bus took us to the hospital where my son had a successful dental procedure, and later we went out for a meal in the city. I must say, I was absolutely delighted with the delicious food.

Then we took a taxi to the hotel, where I must say the taxi drivers were very efficient and taxi fares were also inexpensive. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted politely and shown to our room. The hotel wasn’t paradise, but it was a 3-star hotel.

The next day we went back to the hospital where we were examined first. On Friday, an interpreter was able to answer all our questions in German, which I thought was very good since some people don’t speak English.

In the afternoon, it was finally time to go to the waiting room where everyone was operated on in turn. Now it was my turn, and I tried to relax. Once in the operating room, I was a little nervous. But there was no reason to panic, because my eyes were numbed first, but I could see everything, which was quite interesting and involved very little pain. When I was back in the waiting room, my eyes started to burn a little, which was quite normal. I had some burning and watering that evening, but that went away after a few hours, and I could see again.

The next morning I could see clearly again, and I was very happy and haven’t regretted it to this day. The only problem was that I now need reading glasses after the operation, which I think is normal at my age of 43.

I must say, my vision is getting a little sharper every day, so don’t worry, it will be much better after a few days than it was on the first evening. I also want to tell you that it’s possible to have surgery to correct a prescription of -7 in one eye and -5 in the other, and astigmatism is no problem either. They do everything very well there.

I was very satisfied with the staff and also with the doctors there, because they also had a friendly demeanor.
