EXPERIENCE REPORT ON LASER EYE SURGERY IN TURKEY – Report from Friday, November 6, 2015
In October 2015, I underwent laser eye surgery in Istanbul.
About two weeks before I arrived in Istanbul, I did some research online and came across Swisslasik.
The Swisslasik website is truly very informative and well-organized. After thoroughly reading all the information, I decided to contact Swisslasik or MedicalTravel GmbH. I described my situation and my wishes regarding laser eye surgery, which was to take place in Istanbul, Turkey.
I had already chosen a hospital in Istanbul because I was impressed with it. I forwarded this information to the Swisslasik team via email.
However, at that time, there was no collaboration between MedicalTravel GmbH and my chosen hospital. So, they suggested another hospital. I then visited the website of this hospital, namely the Acibadem Maslak Hospital in Istanbul.
I spent some time on this website to look at and read everything carefully.
I was assured that this hospital would be at least as good, if not better.
And I can already say that the team at MedicalTravel GmbH was right with this statement.
When I first contacted the Swisslasik team, I received a reply email shortly afterward. It contained a lot of information, explaining pretty much everything in detail, including flight details and prices. In particular, it mentioned that dental treatments were possible and that a free dental check-up could be arranged if the patient requested it.
In addition to laser eye surgery, I also opted for dental treatment at the same hospital.
The price for the desired service was agreed upon in advance.
I also spoke with Mr. Kara from Swisslasik on the phone, which I think helped to build trust. He politely clarified a few points for me, and I was then asked to confirm everything by email so that he and his team could take care of the final details.
Flights, hotel and all transfers between hotel, hospital and airport were organized by MedicalTravel GmbH.
My nervousness was minimal; I placed my trust in the company and I was not disappointed.
My arrival in Istanbul went wonderfully, including the shuttle service which was already waiting for me at the airport.
After that, we went to the hotel; it was a turbulent journey, but safe nonetheless. I quickly realized that this is the norm in Istanbul due to the large population.
That didn’t bother me. Having arrived safely at the hotel, I was greeted by an English-speaking gentleman. I was kindly shown to my room, where I then spent the evening.
The next day, I was picked up promptly by the Acibadem hospital’s transport service and driven to the hospital. The journey was quite short. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and given thorough instructions.
Soon after, a German-speaking gentleman came to me who accompanied me throughout my entire stay in the hospital and translated for me. It was truly wonderful.
The preliminary examinations were very good; there was some waiting time, but that wasn’t a problem. Everything went very well. The laser eye surgeon did a wonderful job.
The procedure only took a few minutes and was painless. It couldn’t have gone better; you notice the improvement in your eyesight quite quickly, thanks to the surgery. It’s truly amazing. And even the day after the operation, my vision was many times better than before. I would like to thank the MedicalTravel GmbH team again most sincerely and can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone, as it’s 100% worth it.
