From -7 diopters to a glasses-free life! – Report from Thursday, May 18, 2017

I wore glasses for 14 years and was probably annoyed by them every single day. I was always skeptical about having eye surgery. I always thought it was a risk of going blind. The worst that can happen, however, is that you end up with some residual diopters afterward, which is rare. When I then heard from a colleague that he had his eyes lasered through Swisslasik in Turkey and was very satisfied, I decided to do it too.

After contacting Mr. Serdar Kara, he warmly welcomed me to his home in Bern and provided me with detailed information. Mr. Kara is truly highly competent and has extensive experience in organizing travel and surgery. In addition to the friendly and professional consultation, I was able to undergo various eye tests. Mr. Kara has all the necessary equipment to perform these tests automatically. These tests are free of charge (only with him) and are subsequently discussed with the doctors in Turkey. You receive a response within approximately two days indicating whether your eyes are suitable for laser eye surgery. Once I was certain, I wanted to be able to see without glasses as soon as possible, and Mr. Kara facilitated my travel and surgery shortly after the tests.

Since I chose the premium package, everything was planned for me, and I didn’t have to do anything myself. I boarded the plane to Istanbul on April 13, 2017, and was back in Switzerland on April 15, 2017. The transfers in Istanbul between the hotel, airport, and hospital were smooth and pleasant.

The following morning (April 14, 2017), from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., I had tests and examinations to ensure my eyes were suitable. My prescription was also checked again. Acibadem leaves nothing to chance, and this really impressed me. That afternoon (2:00 p.m.), I had the surgery. The operation was only slightly uncomfortable, but definitely not painful. I had a very strong correction (-7 diopters) and could already see well after the operation. My vision was still a bit blurry, and my eyes were very sensitive to light.

For the first four hours after the surgery, I went back to the hotel and went to sleep. After those four hours, everything was much better, and my eyes weren’t so sensitive anymore. The next morning, my vision was just as good as when I wear contact lenses for a long time. I was taken back to the hospital for a check-up to make sure everything was okay. Everything was perfect, and I could already see as well as with glasses, just a little blurry. The journey home was also uneventful.

My vision improved steadily over the first few days. Unfortunately, there were also some worse days in the beginning, but overall, everything is improving. Today (May 11, 2017), my vision is crystal clear. I would even say better than before with my glasses (which were quite old). Unfortunately, I still have trouble seeing clearly in dark rooms. However, this has also improved and should continue to do so.

I can highly recommend Swisslasik and would do it exactly the same way again.
